Alexander Sanchez, MD, FAPA
Dr. Sanchez has been committed to psychiatry since a young age. He studied chemistry at the College of New Jersey and graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He trained at New York Medical College’s Metropolitan Hospital Program in Manhattan, where he served as chief resident. There he took pride in taking care of a community with diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. He continues to teach residents and medical students at NYMC, and has developed lecture series on human sexuality, psychological development, neuropsychiatry, and psychosexual disorders. He is recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. His expertise has been featured on ABC News, The Hill, and other media outlets. He is currently on staff at Essex County Hospital Center where he cares for patients with severe mental illness from Essex County and the surrounding areas. He has a professional passion in life transitions, anxiety disorders and development of identity.
